![]() Just have to grab all the blue coins and a few more hidden shine sprites before I'm done. I've already rolled credits on it and am planning to 100% it for the first time. I'll admit some of the hidden levels can be a bit punishing, but even those know how difficult they are and give you plenty of bonus lives. The fact that they all make up a cohesive world map rather than being a mishmash of every kind of environment on a bunch of floating platforms is also a huge improvement over the other games. Rather than the levels feeling like the obstacle courses of the 2D and linear 3D games, or the sandboxes of 64 and Odyssey, Sunshine's maps feel like giant, interconnected jungle gyms, with a few dozen different points of interest and a dozen ways to get between any two of them. It is without a doubt the best mainline Mario game. Keeps a lot of pressure off my shoulders that way, haha! I'm liking the blue coin hunt so far, but I'd imagine I'll treat it just like I treated the Korok seeds in BOTW find as much as I can, but not be bothered enough to find all of them. They're tight and responsive 92% of the time, but with the remaining 8% I'd swear Mario's momentum is either too little or too much and I end up unintentionally hitting some object or something along the lines. I do think the controls are a little bit loose though, which is rather obvious if you come from Galaxy/2 or Odyssey. I'm usually not the biggest fan of water-themed games or levels, but Sunshine is a rare exception just because of how fun it is to collect Shines and explore its many levels. Actually, it's not "something," it's EXACTLY what you said: running around with FLUDD and zipping through levels is quite thrilling and reminds me of how I zip around kingdoms in Odyssey (one of the best games on Switch, by the way). ![]() I think, haha), but there's something about Sunshine that's just very fun to play. Take a look through some of our favourites: #SuperMario3DAllStars #NintendoSwitch We'd argue that these quirks make up part of Sunshine's charm, but that doesn't mean we haven't shouted at the screen on occasion. Even its biggest fans on the team can admit that it can be a frustrating, buggy mess at times, however, and plenty of players old and new are now discovering that for themselves.Ī number of tweets from Sunshine players have found their way into our timeline over the past couple of days – sometimes owing to a pesky bug being on show, and other times thanks to players venting their frustrations at the game's occasionally wonky physics or unfair moments. Indeed, speaking to various Nintendo Life team members reveals that the game is by far the least enticing of the three to some, while others consider it to be a nostalgia-filled wonder. All three games in the release - Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy – are wonderful, but Sunshine is perhaps the most divisive. ![]() Image: Nintendo, via release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars serves as the perfect opportunity for younger gaming fans to experience classic Mario games for the first time, while also giving us older folk a chance to revisit some of our favourite titles.
